PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Group of professionals who lead the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals within the given constraints such as scope, time, quality, and budget. The secondary challenge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and apply them to meet pre-defined objectives. Their primary objective is to produce a complete project which complies with the client’s objectives.

CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS

Engineers who dealt and oversees with the day to day operations of a project. They ensure that the project is built in accordance with the requirements of the contract documents, approved plans, specifications, building codes, building code standards and applicable local codes and ordinances. On many types of construction projects there can be dozens of subcontractors, specialty trades and material suppliers all of whom have specific duties and responsibilities. Project superintendents and project managers alike are charged with the responsibility to observe and supervise the progress of the project to ensure that all applicable standards for strict adherence to the requirements of the contract documents, quality assurance and workmanship are fully met and documented.

ENGINEERING/QUANTITY SURVEY

They also provide estimates, cost control strategies, awards, cost forecasting and risk analysis for construction projects. Administers quantity take-off so that appropriate cost and values are determined. They have broad knowledge of construction process and materials. They are required to have technical knowledge of the works involved and the ability to use cost estimating methods.

QUALITY CONTROL

Engineers who plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for construction processes, materials, and products: Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical, or mechanical. Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities. Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.

SURVEY WORKS

These individuals are responsible for the reference layouts of a proposed structure to be constructed. They are responsible for giving the measurements indicated in the plan through markings and reference points. These includes location of structures, dimension, horizontal and vertical positioning, configurations and elevations.
